1970 Chevelle SS

396, 4 speed (M21), CCI driveshaft, Moser axles, US Gear 3.42 ring & pinion, factory cowl induction, factory air, factory power windows, Astro buckets, console, gauge package, handling package, power disc brakes. Block is non-matching but intake, heads, starter, alternator and AC compressor are correct. (The original block got a window installed one day.) The transmission was inadvertently swapped with an identical unit from a '65 Corvette when the trans was rebuilt some years ago.

The car was built in Oshowa, Ontario, and the original build documentation was obtained from the factory. The engine is actually a 402 as all 396 blocks were .030 over by the factory beginning in 1970. The engine has been modified (original parts were saved and stored) to include Edlebrock oval port aluminum heads, Edlebrock Performer RPM intake, Holley Street Avenger carb and Comp Cams Extreme Energy can and lifters (Summit Racing: CCA-K11-246-3 CAM 454 552/555, 230/236, lobe sep 110, Advertised Duration 274/286, 1800-6000, Grind #CB XE274H-10). The engine also has TRW forged pistons shaved to produce 9.5 compression. Rotisserie restoration - even the belly pan and frame were blasted, painted and detailed. The car is now wearing Edelbrock 409's in 17x8 with B.F. Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires in 275/40 and 245/45 in place of the original SS wheels which are in storage. It is a strong #2 car that is fast and reliable.
