1993 HD Sportster 1200
The '93 Sportster is a gnarly, coarse motorcycle. It's fast, for a Harley, and rough as a cob.
Rough & Ready...
The engine vibrates like a coffee can full of rocks. It handles like a barge. The brakes life-threatening and the headlight has just enough candlepower to tell a five from a twenty.
But despite being an anachronism, it is the most fun Harley makes. Rough, raw, loud, fast. It is a great motorcycle.
Solid lifter pre-Evo's are more better...
IMHO, the best ones are the solid lifter, pre-Evo motors. The Evo's are more reliable and all, but the 60's vintage make real music when they're running. Part of the panache has got to be the chain final drive as well. The new bikes have Aramid belts. The old bikes have spokes, the new ones mostly cast. All in all, the older bikes appeal to me a bit more but you can't argue with the reliability of the new ones.
