Great bike with fewer problems that typical for HD machines. Excellent engine and transmission and the brakes are almost safe...but not quite.
The FLTR/I has fuel injection. I am not 100% sure if I like it yet, but I've never driven a new twin cam 88 ci motor without EFI so I suppose I don't really have anything to complain about. It sure enough takes right off without hesitation when it is cold. I guess I just miss fiddling with the enrichener and whatnot. I suppose I am just an old fashioned biker. EFI seems way too high tech for me. I can't argue that it doesn't work better, though. Oh yeah, same clanky transmission, but it gets the job done.
Frame mounted fairing...
This bike's fairing is frame mounted, unlike all other HD's which are handlebar mounted. To me, this improves the overall handling and improves low speed handling considerably. The FLTR's cornering is remarkably good for an 800 pound machine. In fact, it is so much better than I expected it to be, I am still impressed after a couple of years ownership.
So, the bike has a great drive train, no discernible vibration, drives out smooth, handles like a dream, has a stereo and a lot of character.
